Master Artist, Buck Paulson

"The van Gogh of Sports Art"

Buck Paulson creates beautiful, striking Sports Art utilizing the Old Master Artist's  technique, "Surface Intensity"TM.   Paulson was trained in the technique some some 40 years ago by his famous Master Artist Instructor, Claude Buck, who passed away in 1974.

With a background as a professional athlete, Sports Art is his passion.  Paulson creates memorable, dramatic pieces of art with thick, passionate strokes of the brush and with the palet knife, creating beautiful "Surface Intensity" with rich splashes of color and vibrance.  Referred to by some as the "van Gogh of Sports Art " (because van Gogh painted with rich "Surface Intensity" as well), Paulson's work is gaining international acclaim because of its vibrance and uniqueness in a crowded field.

Paulson, a graduate of Brigham Young University, has taught art work shops internationally, and his television shows "Painting With Paulson" which have been seen on PBS television stations since 1988 make him very recognizable and a popular figure in the art world.

Buck Paulson appeared on the cover of the Santa Barbara NewsPress Sports section (shown below) alongside baseball superstars Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and Roger Maris.

The article speaks of Buck's experience as a professional baseball player, his having roomed with former Yankee and single season home-run king Roger Maris, his career as an artist, and features a painting titled "Hall of Fame", a gorgeous still-life painting in 1969.  (The "Hall of Fame" is available in a beautiful museum quality Giclee print, 22"x42", in a limited edition of 2,000.)  To see a larger photo of the HALL OF FAME Giclee Print, CLICK HERE .
